We have an environmentally protected bog that is in the middle of a highly populated end of town. It used be totally rural, but of course development took over. It's still a marvelous retreat, and once you've started along any of the trails, you soon forget that "civilization" is barely more than a stone's throw away. There is also a large white tail deer population. Large, and growing, because they have no natural predators, and what to do about that is a frequent, heated topic at city council meetings. I missed them at this visit, but hope to catch sight of them next time.
